Autumn is once again upon us and we hope this newsletter finds you well. Through each edition of our newsletter we strive to provide you with relevant information regarding our practice and to address the issues that are directly affecting the health and well-being of women today. 


We currently offer a broad range of services in our office, which include:

In addition, we offer patients nutrition and diet counseling by a registered dietician.

We hope to help our patients make informed decisions about their health by offering a wide array of services and education.

Please Welcome Dr. Sarah Salamon to Our Practice

Dr. Salamon

Dr. Salamon has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center for the past 4 years, where she completed her residency training. During her residency Dr. Salamon was a recipient of the excellence in teaching award chosen by fellow residents and medical students. She also received the Magis Star award for excellence in patient care, chosen by staff and patients. She has received extensive training in minimally invasive surgery, including Robotic and Laparoscopic approaches to Gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Salamon is board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a Health Systems Clinician at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.


Dr. Salamon’s special interests include high risk obstetrics and comprehensive prenatal care, minimally invasive surgery, contraceptive counseling and adolescent gynecology. She is passionate about helping women in both joyous and difficult times in their lives. Dr. Salamon is married, recently had a baby boy and lives in Chicago. When not busy caring for patients, she enjoys traveling, cycling and spending time with family.


New Northbrook Office Location

We are pleased to announce that we recently moved our suburban office to 40 Skokie Boulevard, suite 550 in Northbrook, closer to the Lake Cook exit on the Edens expressway. Our new office is well equipped with procedure rooms, onsite ultrasound, laboratory and a serene spa room. The Women’s Group of Northwestern is committed to providing continued high level, comprehensive patient care services in the Northern region. Come by and see our new digs!


Education Classes – Our Commitment to Patient Education

We are excited to announce The Women’s Group of Northwestern is adding breastfeeding classes to our patient curriculum.

Breastfeeding classes We are committed to giving new moms information on why breast milk is best, how breastfeeding affects your body’s recovery after birth, production of breast milk, skin to skin, latching and so much more. This initiative is led by Lauren Dowd, MSN, FNP-BC and Dr. Adrienne Adams.

Prenatal Classes Our program encompasses topics such as Pregnancy & Basic Nutrition, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum Care & Breastfeeding and Newborn Care. Classes are held in the evenings and weekends.

The classes are small and intimate allowing discussion and lots of questions.


This initiative is led by Lauren Dowd, MSN, FNP-BC, Barbara Hartnett, RNC,MS, Ashley Gier, MSN, WHNP, Laura Frese, MMS, PA-C, RD, and Kelley Del Valle MSN, FNP-C.

Diabetes and Women in India

Workshop in India

Dr. Kamel participated in a two-day workshop in Chennai India that focused on the local challenges to diabetes prevention for women while also addressing issues regarding global awareness and advocacy strategies. This two-day workshop was organized by Diabetes in Women Worldwide Awareness Advocacy Action Strategies (DIWWAAAS). DIWWAAAS is an organization working on prevention and care of diabetes in girls and women. Dr. Kamel is currently working on bringing the Go Red initiative of the American Heart Association to India with the help of keynote speaker and longtime colleague Dr. Annabelle Volgman.
